Word is that short blogs get read. Longer blogs (more than 3 short paragraphs) are less likely to be read.
Is that true? Does that matter even if it is true?
It is true that the pace of our culture and the volume of information calling to our attention has exceeded our ability as humans, to process it. We're clearly in overload. In the state of overload, it's easy to pass by sentences, and go for a photo and a single line of text. It's faster to be absorbed.
And, it is also true, that for someone who is interested in your topic, a 2 - 3 short paragraph blog can be quite unsatisfying. If you have substance, or humor, or something of value, length can provide depth - and more keywords.
I've been noticing that a number of the articles on sites like eHow and About.com and there are others, are surprisingly empty. They may even be 6 short paragraphs, seemingly about something, but you realize afterwards they haven't taught you anything of substance. What good is that?
Yes, it's better to have short blogs, because most of us are racing through things, and short can be absorbed at high speed.
But no, short blogs do not give the kind of depth and reasoning possible in a longer text, so only writing short blogs can be unsatisfying for the interested reader.
